Paydirt Trail Building Workdays at Flat Rock Ranch Comfort, Texas
Our next Paydirt workdays are:
January 9 & 10
January 23 & 24 (Weekend before Miles of DisComfort)
February 6 & 7
February 20 & 21 (May Cancel if Holidaze Marathon at Camp Eagle is rescheduled on this date)
March 6 & 7 (Weekend before STORM Hill Country Classic)
April 17 & 18
Additional dates TBA
n 2010 we plan to re-route the trail across the top Flint Hill to the perimeter ridge at the top. This re-route will take the trail out of most of that real sticky mud Flat Rock Ranch hill tops are famous for when wet. The re-route will allow for a new trail with fantastic views and some technical rocky sections. I promise we will leave Jimmy’s Joy alone.
We also plan to build more turning berms and de-rut some older sections. This work will depend on moisture content of the soil.
We do encourage camping on Paydirt weekends. The weekend of January 9-10 we plan to have some swag to raffle and refreshing cold beverages for Saturday night (more details on this later). Also we have plans for a large non-explosive camp fire Saturday night.
Those who camp on Saturday will have Paydirt opportunities on Sunday. We will serve lunch on Saturdays only.
Start time on both Saturday & Sunday is 9am.
Tools needed: I have some tools but rakes, gas powered weed eaters, and grubbing hoes will be appreciated. We will be building a new section off the expert part of the lower loop “The Extra Cheese”. This section will probably take approximately 3 weekends to complete.
Remember if you work, you ride free the workday. If you work at least 5 hours you ride free till the last race in April. You must work at least 15 hours to ride free till we close for hunting season. 10 Paydirt approved hours must be worked on trail and 5 hours can be worked as a volunteer at the STORM Miles of DisComfort Marathon (you may assign significant other to perform your race volunteer work, call for details). You must log in your hours.
We do have primitive camping with HOT-water showers for those who are coming from far-off. STORM will provide lunch after work is finished for the day.
Other Scheduled PayDirt and work dates at Flat Rock Ranch: to be announced.
Check www.tmbra.org, www.storm-web.org and www.bikemojo.com for other dates, directions, and information. Arrangements can be made in advance for working on dates other than the posted Pay Dirt dates. |
